Counsellor near Haywards Heath, West Sussex

Coming to counselling can be a daunting experience, especially for the first time and whatever age you are. I know it takes courage to ask for help, especially at a time when you may be feeling vulnerable, tired and confused. Working together in a relationship of trust and compassion, I will support you to reach a deeper understanding of yourself and find your inner resources to find solutions.

I will offer you an initial conversation where we can discuss what you're looking for and how I can help you. It is important that we both feel we can build a relationship where we work together towards your growth and your goals. Whether you are a young person or more mature in years, I will be happy to talk about your therapy needs.

I work with children, young people and adults, either long or short term, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I am particularly interested in working with:

Abuse - Abuse can take many forms, physical being the most well-documented and easily recognised. But, you may be carrying the scars of sexual, emotional or financial abuse too.
-
Anxiety - Anxiety can feel very frightening ; you are out of control, maybe guilty, certainly vulnerable. Often people dismiss this but it's real to you and you deserve to be taken seriously.
-
Anger management - Many people believe that being angry is not OK. But it is; we will work on channelling your anger and finding more constructive ways to express your emotions.
-
Addiction - Drugs and alcohol are often the first things that we think of when thinking about addiction, but this is a behaviour that can take many forms from gambling to shopping.
-
Depression - Depression is more than just feeling "a bit low" and can leave you unable to function. Learning to recognise and manage your depression will help you get back on track and change your course for the better.
-
Loss - Loss comes in many forms. Whether you have lost a person or a thing, you can be left with a confusing mix of emotions and reactions. This is normal and maybe you need a place to explore and express this.
-
Relationships and conflict - Patterns often emerge in relationships whether we are aware of them or not, which can lead to conflict. Learning to recognise the role you play can help you to make different choices in your relationships.
-
Sexuality - With so many changing definitions of sexuality, it can be confusing to make sense of your identity and where you fit. We can explore this together in an accepting and non-judgemental environment.
-
Working with children and young people (11 years and upwards) - There are so many changes that occur in every child's life. From the physical and neurological to the social and emotional, this can be a testing and bewildering time. Talking to somebody who will see you as a unique individual can help you make sense and manage this time.
-
Work-related and performance stress - Today's world is very competitive; whether you're sitting exams, writing reports, hitting targets and deadlines or striving to get ahead in your career this is understandably stressful and knowing how to deal with this can make it easier.

I am a practising therapist located in Haywards Heath which is easily accessible from Burgess Hill, Uckfield, Horsham and other areas across West Sussex. Being on a mainline London to South Coast train line, I am easy to reach.
