Choosing a Counsellor
When you choose your counsellor listen to your gut reaction and ask yourself if you believe you can sit opposite this person and build a relationship of trust that is strong enough to support you over the following weeks.
Do you feel you understand enough about how the sessions will progress?
Are you clear on your responsibilities and those of your counsellor in terms of time, money, boundaries and therapy?
Have you heard anything about one particular therapeutic model or approach that interests you?
Do you have a clear issue you want to work on or is it an unspecified sense of unease and discontent?
These are some of the questions you may want to discuss with any prospective counsellor.
